# Today, we remember and honour Dr. Thomas Buchsein

Our colleague, our Medical Director, and, above all, a remarkable person who left an extraordinary mark on FAI Aviation Group.

For over 20 years, Thomas played a defining role in our Air Ambulance operations. His exceptional expertise in aviation medicine, critical care, and aeromedical transport, combined with his unwavering commitment to patients, helped shape the high standards FAI is known for today.

Throughout the international aeromedical community, he was admired not only for his knowledge, but also for his integrity and professionalism.

Thomas believed that knowledge should be shared. He was a mentor who encouraged others to learn, challenged us to think critically, and always took the time to explain the "why" behind every decision. His thoughtful contributions at international conferences and industry forums inspired colleagues around the world and advanced the field of air ambulance medicine.

Outside of his professional achievements, Thomas will be remembered for the person he was. Warm-hearted, humble, curious, and full of humour, he had a unique ability to make people feel welcome and valued. Whether flying as a passionate pilot, exchanging ideas with colleagues, or enjoying peaceful moments on his beloved Greek island, he embraced life with enthusiasm and kindness.

His legacy extends far beyond medicine. It lives on in the people he mentored, the teams he strengthened, the patients whose lives he touched, and the friendships he built over the years.

The entire FAI Aviation Group family extends its deepest sympathies to his wife, Ulla, his children, his loved ones, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you, Thomas, for your dedication, your wisdom, and your friendship. You will remain a cherished part of FAI, and your legacy will continue to inspire us.
