# Starting this September: The aeromedical blog

**Knowledge from the field – for the field.**  Starting in September, FAI Air Ambulance is opening a new window into our work: an aeromedical blog where we'll regularly cover topics around patient transport, aviation medicine, and international repatriation – well-founded, practice-oriented, and straight from the source.

  

**Why this blog?**

Air ambulance is a field that rarely gets the spotlight – yet in critical moments, it determines matters of life, safety, and the ability to bring loved ones home. Behind every repatriation flight lie complex medical, operational, and regulatory questions: Is the patient fit to fly? What challenges does flight altitude pose for specific medical conditions? How do you plan a route through airspace with current security risks? And what does accreditation actually mean for the quality of a transport?

We want to make this knowledge more accessible – for medical professionals, insurers and assistance companies, and not least for everyone interested in the unique aspects of aviation medicine.

**What to expect**

Over the coming months, we'll be covering topics including:

- **Aeromedical case analyses** – anonymized insights into real transport decisions and the medical reasoning behind them
- **Aviation medicine fundamentals** – such as the effects of cabin pressure and altitude on different medical conditions
- **Operational practice** – how a repatriation flight is planned and carried out, from the initial request to landing
- **Quality & safety** – what accreditation and international standards actually mean for patients
- **Behind the scenes** – flight risk assessments, special cases in patient transport, and the people who make these missions possible
